Hawaii Heavy Rain storm!

There was an unusual rain / lightning storm last night. Our landlord told us he never saw anything like it in the last 10 years he’s been living at his house. It poured very heavy for about an hour with lightning. Fortunately we were not at home. But unfortunately also the wind driven rain came in and puddled in our living room and got everything wet including the ceiling??

So because of the storm and mud sliding into the streets, cars were stalled, houses, shops and driveway flooded with mud! Gravel was in the street in front of the school and Ms Sydow told us that the street looked like a river during the storm the night before. She also had one of her bedrooms partly flooded from the rain like a lot of other people.

The following day Maya had her 1st grade developmental evaluation for entering into first grade next year. They call kindergarten children heading off to first grade the following year “star children”.

This is the first grade classroom.

Sawyer and I headed off to the beach and noticed the water was super muddy. We also saw bird dead on the side of the road? And Sawyer found a dead fish on the beach.

And to end on a good note, I found this nice aloha mural while we were driving around town today. That’s actually my offices project in the background. High rise condo with what will be the biggest Whole Foods on the island scheduled to open next month.

Aloha!
