Visiting the New Santa Monica Park

The landscape designers Field Operations , who also did the Highline in New York did a really nice job on the park design.

Maya, I and Sawyer all went to check it out and met up with mommy after our walk. Unfortunately Sawyer was sleeping for most of the experience, but we’ll go back again soon.

Take a look at some of the photos I took of Maya who was having a great time in all the fountains and in the playpark. They also have a fountain for kids to play in when it gets warm. We’ll definitely be back again.

I recommend checking it out if your down in Santa Monica.

The only criticism I have is that there are very few people that live down there… so it appears to be activated primarily by tourists, which fluctuate throughout the seasons and may lend the park to homeless shelters, but we’ll see what happens.

Enjoy the photos

Sawyer …kinda talking :)

Sorry I couldn’t get a longer video in this email but this is the longest I can send at the moment (until I get the jailbreak for my iPhone that is!). I think you’ll get a sense of what he’s saying though. He’ll go on for a few minutes like this.

It’s funny trying to watch him find his voice, making all these expressions trying to coordinate his muscles before the sound comes out.

Enjoy!

Here’s another one I uploaded directly with more talking…

Finally mommy finished that whole labor thing and child nurturing business, Now she can get back to work!

Today is Mommy’s first day back at work and daddy’s first day having to get the kids ready to go in the morning all by himself :0

Everything seemed to go well though thanks to Debbi’s direction and planning.

Debbi is starting her long journey of pumping for sawyer while she is apart from him. It includes waking up at 1am to pump for the next day, she also woke up at 4 to feed him and then got up at 5 to pump again before she leaves for work at 5:45am. Then at work she will have to be locked in a small office for lunch time while she pumps again… And all this for about 9 more months..

It’s a tough schedule, but hey! She gets off work at 2:30!!! ….Just in time to go pick up the kids and then try to put dinner together.

The sacrifices mommies make for their husbands 🙂 …okay okay! I know it’s not for me. I’m sure the kids will be grateful… In about 30 years.

Enjoy some picture of Sawyer and Maya playing in the sprinklers in the front yard.

Sawyer Slept Through the Night! …oh! and Maya is going to join the circus!

Sawyer slept through the night on Wednesday night! From about 9pm to 6am. Just for reference Maya did that in May first which was about 4 months old. –> http://family.anastas.org/?p=299 Sawyer eats much more which could be why he was able to sleep through so quickly.

On a side note… Take a look at this acrobatic maneuver… No fear 🙂

[UPDATE 2013.10.06] Over the past couple days Sawyer has been sleeping really well…. From about 9pm to about 4:30am. Thank goodness so mommy can get some decent rest at night. Good Job Sawyer!!

[UDPATE 2013.11.13] For the past month Sawyer went back to waking up a couple times at night, and recently he was battling some eczema all over his body, but mostly on his cheeks…. to the point of bleeding on his left side from scratching it at night. Read more on this Newsletter posting.

[UPDATE 2014.03.29] Sawyer Slept through from 8:30pm to 4:30am for the first time without waking up in the middle of the night to feed and be changed. We realized he was repeatedly waking up because his clothes were wet from peeing. We would have to change him and feed him to go back to sleep. So Debbi mentioned overnite diapers that could hold more. We tried them and they’re working! I feel so stupid for not knowing about this earlier… and tired 🙂

[UPDATE 2014.04.09] Sawyer slept through from 8:30pm to 6:30am! That’s 10 hours. We gave him some vitamin C and D3 supplements yesterday with dinner?… not sure if that had anything to do with it. We also didn’t let him nap too close too bedtime which made him a little tired… He was also tired from not sleeping as much the night before… So we’ll see if it keeps up. Cross your fingers. …oh and it’s also getting warmer now being spring?

CO Architects in Top 50 Architects by Architect Magazine

image001

This is about quality.

From the website:

Most lists of top architecture firms are nothing more than a straight-up ranking of toprevenue-producers. Not the ARCHITECT 50.

Now in its fifth year, the program aspires to much more: A qualitative look at how firms stack up across a broad range of categories,

from business to sustainability to design. We consider net revenue per employee, profits invested in research, and energy-efficiency

metrics (how well firms are meeting the AIA’s 2030 challenge, for instance).

Where within the top 50 does CO rank?

Wicked awesome, OMG great, 🙂 !!!!

Dear Jill,

I wanted to send a quick note with a link to our coverage for the 2013 version of the Architect 50ranking:

http://www.architectmagazine.com/business/architect-50-top-architecture-firms/

The print magazine, if it hasn’t already arrived, should be showing up in mailboxes in the next day or so.

More importantly, I wanted to offer my congratulations. CO Architects made the list, with an overall ranking of 2.  Well done!

Participating in the Architect 50 is no small amount of work, so thank you for taking the time, and thank you for your continued support of the program.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions, clarifications, etc.

Best wishes,

Eric Wills

He’s got Debbi’s Eyes! – Sawyer 2 month Update

We just measured Sawyer the other day at 2 months (Sept. 6th) and he is 12.8 lbs and 23.5″. At this age Maya was almost the same height, but she was 9lb 13oz., about three pounds lighter. Sawyer is eating plenty and he’s growing fast. If you haven’t come to visit recently, come quickly!:)
