Derek took us on this hike to Hamama falls with Linda and Taylor (Sidney was at home doing homework) and it was raining for a good portion of the hike. I think the kids learned a valuable lesson in… getting wet on a hike 😉

Maya’s in print!
Just thought I’d share an excerpt from our first Honolulu Waldorf School
newsletter…
“Dear Milo Kindergarten parents,
The days seem to be flying past and pretty soon will begin the count-down
to the final days of the school year. Needless to say, there is so much to
do! Here is another, hopefully very short note to you with some reminders
and comments from me;
We have another new student among us! Her name is Maya Anastas and she has
a little brother in the Koa class. Her parents are Edward and Debra
Anastas. Edward’s mother has been a long-standing Waldorf Kindergarten
teacher and he and his three [four] siblings were all Waldorf students at the Los
Angeles Highland Hall Waldorf School.
Maya’s addition to our class gives us 18 total students and we are now
full! ”
The facts were slightly off, but I’m sure Mom is smiling down at us 🙂

Maya and Sawyer’s first day at school!
I love this first picture with maya and Sawyer’s faces. Right when we were leaving the house.
What a dream school. I wish I could come here for school. Sawyer’s teacher and Holly was also Layla’s teacher in Seattle. They both have classrooms right next to each other.
Sawyer just took off to play and made a new friend right away. He’s in the Koa class with Ms. Holli Bettie’s and her assistant teacher is Mikiko and she speaks Japanese! Hopefully to Sawyer 🙂 When I came back to say bye to Sawyer he was a little resistant for me to leave… so I went to show him where Maya’s classroom was right next to his and then he saw the yard and wanted to play. After running off to play I went to him, gave him a hug and said bye.
Maya was a little shy at first as we were finding Sawyer’s lockers and orienting him…. then her teacher Ms. Cindy Sydow in the “Milo” class took her hand and showed Maya her locker …then she was off! There’s a picture of them holding hands. Maya turned around and waved to me. Said bye daddy.
Exciting day for the kids.

Kinzie Landscape Final Preparations
We were making some final preparations for the going away party. Laying out the gravel, finishing the fire pit, planting the plants, taking off the formwork for the counter and starting the low walls.
At the end of the day we did a test run with the fire pit! Without the rocks. Very exciting.

Going away party :(
Going away party with the kids friends and other friends and family.
Finally finished the BBQ patio and firebird which was pretty cool. But wrong type of rocks so they were cracking while the fire got hot. Have to change them out to volcanic rocks.
