The BIGGEST hike ever!!! … So far

We went for a 5 mile hike with auntie Samira today!!! Wow! That’s a lot. And on top of that it was a huge climb …vertically that is.

A little advice… If you want to go on a really hard hike and for some crazy reason you think that’s not hard enough for you. Just bring your 4 and (almost) 3 year olds along to carry when they say “upppuu daddy”.

So much fun. Sawyer was sleeping on my back by the time we got back to the bottom.

There were so many pictures to choose from. I’ll try to send some more shortly. Maybe Samira could send hers too. Reply and attach a few.

Maya’s Card and Sketches

This is a picture Maya drew of daddy holding a rainbow on a string. She gives us cards all the time now that she figured out where to get them… Trader Joes!

The yellow picture is of mommy she just drew yesterday.

She asked me what the letters of my name was… so I told her one at a time… when she ran out of space she just put the R and D at the front. Isn’t that clever! 🙂

We made Cherry Garcia Ice-cream!

All our hard work paid off! We made home made cherry Garcia Ice-cream today with chunky cherries that we picked yesterday.

The kids waited patiently all day for it and helped wash the cars.

Can you tell who they’re impersonating??

Hint: he has one good hand and one good eye.

We went to IKEA-Land …no not Disneyland, IKEALAND!

Thank goodness Sawyer was just barely tall enough.

It’s like a little kid land with little hand rails just for maya and sawyer. Seriously though. I thought it was pretty amazing that they thought of that level of detail.

Mommy had to humiliate him by putting this brainy hat on him… You know for when he gets into high school and we need to blackmail him for something.

After we went to downtown to eat at Sticky Rice again. Yum. So good. Sawyer pounded his plate down.

It’s that time of life… Organic Cherry Picking!

It’s finally that time of life when we get to go cherry picking with the kids. We’ve been waiting for years for this!

We did really well. Or I should say the farm did really well on us! 😉 you know these things aren’t that much cheaper than the stores??? We spent $50 bucks on these cherries. But whatever. We’re supporting what looks like a nice family business. Unless they were just paid props? 🙂

We’re going to make cherry ice-cream! I’m going to try to recreate one of my old memories of one of my favorite ice cream treats …but a non poison version of it without dairy… Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia. Isn’t it ironic that the Ben and Jerry founders are such community and political activists trying to help everyone out but then they get their funding by poisoning people? …OK OK! Sorry for using the maya newsletter to preach my dairy poison rant. I’ll try not to do it again. 😉

Enjoy the pictures.

The kids rode the Metro Expo Line… it’s Finally Open!

Only about 50 years in the making. They finally got to the ocean.

I took the train from work to meet Junko, Kairi, Maya and Sawyer. And Mommy met us there with the car since she was coming from work.

Exciting train rides. Now Junko and the kids can take the line to the beach during summer. What fun!

Finished the Tribune St house. It’s on the MLS!

Here are some final shots of the tribune at house. We just finished it last weekend. Thanks to Gene, Samira and Debbi for watching the kids during the three month process and John helped spread the mulch!

Thank goodness it’s finished.

Look what’s a smooth driver I am! ;)

They just fall right asleep. This is on the way to work. Both of them were sleeping which is pretty rare.

This was Thursday. Really funny thing was that sawyer woke up laughing. He said maya was funny! He had a dream about maya and couldn’t stop laughing when he woke up.

JPL excursion

Mama Junko needed the day off for Kari’s graduation, so Maya and Sawyer got to go visit Mommy’s friend’s work and spend the day at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (part of NASA). They got a special private tour of the facility and had so much fun calling outer space and seeing infrared and 3D stuff. Yay!??
