2019 New Years Eve – Rope Swing!!?

We went to the beach on New Year’s Eve and before we went back to the house in the evening we stopped quickly at a friend’s rope swing along the river. Yes ROPE SWING….

I had no idea what we were getting into. But our friend Raymond assured us it was “great fun”???!! When we got there and saw how big the swing was I was thinking to myself “no way!”. Then sawyer jumped on and did it… in complete disbelief I watched and totally forgot to record the first swing. I asked Sawyer to do it again so I could record it. After he did it a second time Sawyer reminded me that I said I would do it after him… thanks a lot for the reminder! 😉

I figured if sawyer could do it. I should be able to do it also… right??? Well as you can see, somehow we both did it. We were trying to get Maya to try too but maybe next time. She did practice a bit on the dry rope swing though.

I converted some of the videos to animated gifs that you May have to view in your web browser. I’ll try to send them next but the file size was very large for some reason. Take a look and enjoy!

Moss Garden

Sawyer received a moss garden from his teacher for Christmas. Also attached is Maya’s from last year, and a shot from their shichi go san Shinto blessing which is a tradition for kids at ages 3,5 and 7.

Kids are wrapping presents…

True phonetic spelling. The birth of writing in progress. Pretty amazing process us humans go through.

Who can read what this says?

Sawyer writing Music

Sawyer was writing “we wish you a merry Christmas” song.

Probably a little early but he’s started doing some ukulele lessons for 6 months now. From Waldorf perspective it takes too much focus to coordinate his fingers with the music. For non-waldorfers…. this kind of thing forces kids to “wake up” from childhood too quickly.

Sawyer Kindergarten 2018 Winter Play

Sawyer’s kindergarten class presented a play to the parents last Friday and sang songs.

This is his first year in kindergarten with Ms Sydow and Ms Kojima. He’ll have another year to go because he missed the cutoff by 6 days (July 6th). Last year he was in pre-k.

Apparently holding kids back is a good thing though. They are older and establish stronger leadership and confidence. Hey who wouldn’t want an extra year of childhood anyway?

Classmates: Kamon, Emma, Bodi, Tommy, Mila, Eli, Sawyer, Simone, Mae, Garner, Ami, Ms Sydow, Collette, Olive, jack, Hia, Lenna, Ms Kojima.

Mayas First Grade Candle Spiral Walk and Caroling

We walked outside after Maya’s spiral walk ceremony and were greeted by this super vibrant rainbow practically going over the school. Magical.

Who remembers doing this ceremony in school? I do. Although they use tropical plant greenery making the spiral instead of using the traditional Christmas tree wreaths.

The last picture is of the class caroling to the parents Wednesday the 18th.
