The first two photos are a couple pages from Maya’s very first main-lesson book. For those that are not from Waldorf, basically the students have three week “blocks” covering a specific topic and during that time they write and illustrate there own text books. They continue this process all the way through to high school. So you can imagine that some books get quite nice towards the end. Yep, that’s right, no text books in Waldorf school, and it’s been that way for 100 years since they started Waldorf education. …So this is a very exciting time for Maya and for me to watch her go through the process.
For her main-lesson book she was illustrating the letters of the alphabet. One of the illustration was of the letter N for net. Over the weekend she brought her experience home and made a boat with a net out of beeswax. Then she crocheted little blue fish and placed them on the net. These little things are so amazing to me.
The last couple images are of a card Maya made for one of her teachers at school named Ms. Bryce who is going to have a baby. …But because she doesn’t know if it’s a boy or a girl she drew both ….“with sparkles all around”. Such a beautiful picture I had to share it too!
Enjoy!
