Sawyer’s Super Hero Landing

Sawyer has been doing this thing for more than a year now and I’ve finally been able to capture it on video to share… and also figure out what it’s called.

This is a video of Sawyer trying to teach us how to do the super hero landing. And in case you wanted to know more about it. Here are some famous super hero landings YouTube video…

To be fair to Maya, her first landing was very similar to this Three point landing… She’s got skills too you know!
Especially this one in the matrix.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCjhh0h7RSM

Maya’s First Main Lesson Book

The first two photos are a couple pages from Maya’s very first main-lesson book. For those that are not from Waldorf, basically the students have three week “blocks” covering a specific topic and during that time they write and illustrate there own text books. They continue this process all the way through to high school. So you can imagine that some books get quite nice towards the end. Yep, that’s right, no text books in Waldorf school, and it’s been that way for 100 years since they started Waldorf education. …So this is a very exciting time for Maya and for me to watch her go through the process.

For her main-lesson book she was illustrating the letters of the alphabet. One of the illustration was of the letter N for net. Over the weekend she brought her experience home and made a boat with a net out of beeswax. Then she crocheted little blue fish and placed them on the net. These little things are so amazing to me.

The last couple images are of a card Maya made for one of her teachers at school named Ms. Bryce who is going to have a baby. …But because she doesn’t know if it’s a boy or a girl she drew both ….“with sparkles all around”. Such a beautiful picture I had to share it too!

Enjoy!

Sawyer’s Nightmare

This morning (Sunday) Sawyer woke up and told me quietly in my ear that he had a nightmare… When we were eating breakfast I asked him what his nightmare was about. He told me he saw some eyes in a dark trench that were “going like this”… and he placed his fingers on his eyebrows going down at his nose. Back at halloween when we were cutting our pumpkins I explained that mad eyes do that.

After we were done eating he did a painting of what he saw. We made some jokes about it and I told him sometimes monster want to play games like hide-and-seek too! 😉

Enjoy!

Maya’s Two More Teeth Out-a-here!

Maya lost two more teeth on both sides of her top front teeth within a few days of each other. She lost the left one today and the right one a couple days ago. Now she can make a perfect bunny face!!! 😉

The tooth fairy only gave her a dirty old quarter from 1907… >.< …and Sawyer was perfectly content eating rice and show-yu-sauce, sometimes referred to as Sawyer-sauce because he loves it so much.

Sawyer the Jungle Boy

Sawyer choose this trail from the all trails app by just clicking on one of the trail tags. I looked closer and realized it seemed like a pretty amazing hike. So we tried it well… Mommy and Maya got a little freaked out about the rocky steep jungle terrain so they went on the upper trail to a lookout while Sawyer and Daddy went deep into the tiger infested jungles of Manoa Valley. ….Yeah! Can you believe this has been in Manoa valley all this time and we never knew it! One of our favorite Valleys to hike.

Take a look at the size of those ferns! If I didn’t put my foot in the photo you would probably think it was a close-up photo.

This would be a great summer hike so we can jump in the water pool when it’s hot. They tell me there’s another deeper pool if you hike up the first waterfall. Sounds dangerous and fun. Just what we’re looking for. 😉 watch out for the water snakes!!! :0
