Kualoa Ranch “Ocean Voyage”

This was a little (rip-off) ocean excursion that just takes you out ten minutes and then tries to fill in every opportunity to talk about some miscellaneous trivia to make it seem like it was worth. Although the kids could care less about that. They had a great time and many ocean trips don’t allow young kids. So at least we could go.

This ranch does have a cool looking 3 hour zip line 3 mile tour for $139 that I would love to go on some day. Unfortunately the kids have to be 10 to go on it. Too bad for them! 😉 hey! We have to look out for ourselves too sometimes… Ok, a lot of the time.

Our Manoa Falls yearly (or Biannual) Pilgrimage 2015

We always manage to come back to Manoa falls because it’s close to the city and it’s a beautiful hike. There are a lot of people who walk it every day because of that.

Maya walked the whole trail by herself alongside mommy and Sawyer almost walked back down all by himself. There’s a nice video I’ll try to send of him jumping down the steps.

On the way back down Sawyer found a spot in the grassy field where he connected with and started playing for about fifteen minutes while mommy and maya waited very impatiently by the car (without the key) while the Mosquitos had dinner 😉 Sawyer picked a couple sticks and started practicing his chopsticks while according to Sawyer was eating tofu and miso soup.

We had an interesting experience with a bird that came and sat right next to us and started singing.

Note to (Debbi) self: Just for the record it took us one hour to go up and down even with Sawyers 15 minute delay.

Maya imitating the owls

These pictures were from Ward warehouse which is scheduled to be demolished. It’s a hawaii icon shopping center. This was a beautiful owl painting.

kailua beach

We’re in Hawaii to celebrate Debbi’s parents 50th golden anniversary. Wow! dont even think that’s possible for us. We’d have to live until 86 for me and 89 for debbi. Maybe debbi will get there. But I probably wont. 😉 we’ll see.

The kids are both (including sawyer) finally ready to have fun on these kind of outings (compared to the previous trips where he was a little too young). We are trying to do at least one or two a day. Yesterday we went to hike at a swimming hole where I slipped on a rock and took sawyer down with me. And then after we went to kailua beach to swim in the inlet.

I’ll reply with more photos.

Hiking at Stoney Point with Gene Fox

We went hiking at stony point park this weekend with Gene Fox. After we got back to the car, Gene Fox showed us some Thai Chi moves and the kids tried to imitate him. Maya was helping Sawyer with his moves.

Sawyer defending himself and Maya’s Golden locks

Today something interesting happened…

Maya was pinning sawyer in to a corner of the living room and taking his ball he was playing with. Usually he lets her take things of his but not always and sometimes he also wants things she has so it goes both ways. This time he was trying to play with the blow up ball to kick it around and maya was pinning him in and grabbing the ball away. It reminded me of a situation where an animal is pinned in and had to fend for his life or be eaten. That’s the kind of desperation I saw in sawyer. He knew he couldn’t out run her. So she took the ball and he had a fit and started screaming. He ran right after her… I got close to them trying not to intervene (per the RIE methods) to let them work it out. At one point I put my hand between sawyers mouth and Maya just in case he tried to bite her but instead he grabbed her hair and yanked a big chunk out. Granted she does have very fine hair, but I was shocked when I saw it steadily float down to hit the ground!

I guess you can say she had it coming. Maybe she won’t torment him as easily next time? I always wonder if this method is the best approach. My intuition is that it is, but we won’t know until we see it play out over the next few months. …even then it’s hard to know because they’re at Junko’s house and it’s hard to observe how things are panning out.

You can see the yellow ball in the foreground in the second picture.
