The three of us went to visit the Honolulu Waldorf school last thursday …before our trip to the big Island (Mauna Kea). BTW, Debbi grew up two houses away from the school and never even noticed it. amazing coincidence don't you think.

Not to mention falling and banging her nose against the glass …another valuable lesson she learned all by herself.
She also found her old friend from back at the pediatricians office while she was exploring mommy’s suitcase.
Maya gave mommy a couple big smackers right on the lips!

We took Maya to the famous Ala Moana shopping center just for an excuse to take Maya out! 🙂 I’m sure she won’t remember any of it.

Checkout some architecture that Maya and I noticed as we walked around a typical city block in Honolulu. Surprisingly a lot of this stuff is ver modern, but so commonplace that I don’t think these people know they are sitting on a modern architecture gold mine!
The interior shot is just that restaurant Yogur Story that we went to a couple days ago on our way out the door. I liked the fake tree, stencils on the wall and general atmosphere.

Here is the scene… Dinner at Debbi’s favorite chinese restaurant Maple Garden (originally Yen King); four parties going on inside at the buffet averaging 30 people each (ours was 9); Neon sign on the front with dusk background; Hawaiian music and dancing in the park across the street.
Inside Debbi’s brother Derek holding the baby, Sydney playing peek-a-boo with Maya.
The hot sour soup here is one of the best we have had. Debbi still can’t get over the string bean shredded pork, 20+ years later! …its good but get over it already! Sheesh… 🙂

Yep, they still make them …Never-mind the handles are so low that I kick the back of the wheels with my feet, or the tinny wheels that get stuck on the driveway ramps. It almost seems easier back then not having to choose from hundreds of designer and full feature strollers like they have now… Don’t you think?
She still looks like she’s having fun with that comfortable side slouch no matter what stroller she’s in.
[UPDATE] Thanks for the scans from back in the day (mom, Samira, Alex)! Good times… good times! oh wait, I wasn’t born yet! I’m still sure they were good times, they always are.

As part of Obama’s paid family leave we are taking our last three weeks of total six weeks. 60% paid by you all!! Thanks to taxes.
We just arrived yesterday and have already had some amazing food at Red House (first picture), today at Yogur Story …not yogurt, it’s Korean food. See the last image I took looks like what I’m having.
Grandpa Goto is enjoying holding Maya, and Maya’s cousins Sydney and Taylor love playing with her too.
We stocked up on Whole Foods organic produce for the baby. We start our swimming lessons on Monday and take a tour of the Honolulu Waldorf school on the 12th of next month.
We’ll keep you posted.
