More Maya Artwork!

Some days in the evenings, (or mornings). Maya will just disappear with her paper, scissors and crayons to dive into another of her little projects.

Sometimes she decorates cut out tea pots, makes bracelets of paper, wraps presents of her and Sawyer’s old toys to give to her friend :0 , anything and everything her imagination can uncover.

I have no idea where she got the idea to this. Most likely from school somewhere??. But needless to say I was pretty amazed how she pulled this together all on her own.

Is this light switch in every house?

Maya asked a beautiful question a couple days ago. She said “mommy, is this light switch in every house?” As my mom always taught me… it’s these little consistencies and daily rhythms that give them comfort.

…Debbi has been loyally taking this down and putting it up as we have been relocating quite frequently… all the way from Santa Monica, (back to its origin) Northridge, Moomuku and now in our new home on Ainapo St.

It was actually the light switch that was in my room as a child.

Definitely has polish origins. Don’t recall if she told me where she got it though. Maybe one of the other siblings knows???

Maya lost her tooth!!!

This first picture was a before shot that I took since I knew it was ready to come out. The last photo of her with all her baby teeth. πŸ™

She dictated the letter to the tooth fairy for me to write… “Please come” and when she woke up she had a “special and magical” 1908 quarter that’s more than 100 years old that the tooth fairy left for Maya. So special!!

Sawyer was a little envious. Part of the second child psychology evolving that I’m fortunate enough to witness. Since I was a second child I’m paying close attention to how that mindset is formed. …very interesting!! πŸ˜‰

Another day in paradise

For those of you that thought paradise was all rainbows and mangos…

This is our new friends that sometimes find there way into our home. But only sometimes thankfully. This is a centipede that apparently stings. So far we have been able to escape the stinging. But it’s only a matter of time.

At least It’s better than the scorpions that are outside in the rocks. :0

Check out this dinosaur (Sawyer) and flower (Maya) the kids drew!

This dinosaur is a pretty big step forward for Sawyer in terms of detail… having eyes and mouth rather than just a couple weeks ago with just head arms and body. Apparently at his age he shouldn’t be drawing that level yet. So we have to trip him up a little. If it was walking when he should be crawling I could trip him. But when it comes to mental I’m just going to have to drug him or something?? πŸ˜‰

Sawyer also decided to wear the headband necklace and bring his bag to school even though I explained that it’s not allowed to bring things from home. But he insisted.

This was also an amazing flower that Maya did.

And finally cousin alex and Sawyer.
